The NBC challenges us to do more and be more than merely what we "historical" Baptists do or are. I pride myself on being a "real" Baptist. What do I "do" with that? The challenge is before us and ever-present. What we do with that after Feb. 1 is our answer to God.

Parham is right. I have learned in my nearly two decades of involvement with the Baptist World Alliance that the global Baptist community is far more vibrant and forward-looking than one would think from watching the SBC. In my opinion, the SBC is standing in the station as the Baptist train is pulling away.
